Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club is pleased to announce three newly-appointed positions at the Club. Former Golf Course Superintendent Erik Krahn has been promoted to Director of Operations. Tony Loyola, who recently became the fourth native-born Puerto Rican currently working in Puerto Rico to earn a Class “A” PGA Certification, has stepped up from Assistant Golf Professional to Head Golf Professional. Cesar Aguirre, former Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor, has been promoted to the position of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
Erik Krahn joined Costa Caribe in 2003 as Golf Course Superintendent. He had served previously as Project Manager for Willowbend Golf Construction, where he spent two years developing the golf course at Costa Caribe. Erik started his career in Puerto Rico’s golf industry 15 years ago working at El Conquistador. Erik resides in Ponce with his wife, Vionnette, and their son.
Tony Loyola graduated from the PGA of America’s Golf Professional Training program in April of 2007 and became the fourth native-born Puerto Rican working on the island to earn his Class “A” PGA Certification. He served previously as Assistant Golf Professional at Costa Caribe, where he illustrated his passion for golf that began in Ponce when he was 16 years old. Tony is a graduate of Mississippi State University’s Professional Golf Management program, where he was awarded a PGA Minority Golf Scholarship. After graduation, Tony worked at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina and Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida before returning home to join Costa Caribe. Recognized for his ability to teach and work well with children, Tony runs numerous children’s golf camps and instructional programs at the Club.
Cesar Aguirre officially joined the Costa Caribe team in July 2003 as a Supervisor in the Golf Course Maintenance department. Previously, Cesar worked with Vega Construction building a Turf Farm in Guayanilla, PR. In 2002, he joined Quality Grassing Company and was part of the team working on the construction of Costa Caribe’s 27-hole golf course. His experience and keen knowledge of Costa Caribe’s course have earned him the role of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. Cesar, a native of Argentina, lives with his wife in Ponce.
